Research
The multiple lines of research that characterise the Department can be traced back to the various scientific-disciplinary fields of the lecturers. These research lines, documented by a good level of scientific production, are multi-sectoral and range from ecological topics to the exploitation of raw materials from renewable sources, from the green economy to
resource management, with a view to the circular economy and Nature-based solutions (NBs). Future project lines will focus mainly on these topics, which have already shown great potential in their ability to attract funding, owing to their topicality.
Many young collaborators participate in these different lines of research, such as:
- Doctoral students, under the tutorship of the Department's lecturers from the 'Environment and Health Sciences' doctoral course or other doctoral courses at the University:
- holders of research grants or
Many research projects are supported by funding obtained in national and international calls for proposals and through numerous collaboration agreements reached by the Department with various economic, social and cultural, public and private players such as the Emilia Romagna Region, the CNR, the National Institute of Oceanography and Experimental Geophysics (OGS).

The first PhD day within the Environment and Health Sciences PhD programme took place on the 26th June. The event, organised by the first- and second-year PhD students, was attended by many students of the Biological Sciences, Chemistry, CTF and Biotechnology Master's Degrees, who had the opportunity to exchange views with the PhD students themselves, in order to better understand the meaning of this academic pathway. The enthusiasm of the PhD students was palpable and their passion for research was vibrantly showcased by a poster session, during which they were able to share their projects with both lecturers and students from our university.
