Gianfranco Franz

Gianfranco Franz, architetto e pianificatore, è professore ordinario del Dipartimento di Scienze dell’Ambiente e della Prevenzione; insegna: Politiche per lo Sviluppo Integrale e la Sostenibilità per il Corso di Studi magistrale in Inglese in Green Economy and Sustainable Transitions, presso il Dipartimento di Economia e Management; Progettazione di itinerari culturali sostenibili per il Corso di Studi triennale di Manager degli Itinerari Culturali presso il Dipartimento di Studi Umanistici; Organizzazione e Pianificazione del Territorio per il Corso di Studi in Architettura del Dipartimento di Architettura dell’Università di Ferrara.
Nel 2012 ha fondato la Rete Universitaria Internazionale Routes towards Sustainability; nel 2019 è stato fra i fondatori del dottorato internazionale in Environmental Sustainability and Wellbeing dell’Università di Ferrara. Dal 2025 è fra i fondatori di Ecopia, Eco Partnershiop for Interdisciplinary Actions, alleanza fra 15 università di tutti i continenti.
Nel 2022 ha pubblicato per Mimesis Edizioni: L’Umanità a un bivio. Il dilemma della sostenibilità a trent’anni da Rio de Janeiro.

Gianfranco Franz, architect and planner, he is Full Professor of the Department in Environmental Sciences and Prevention; he is teaching Policies for Sustainability and Integral Development at the MA on Green Economy and Sustainability – Department of Economics and Management; Design of Sustainable Cultural Itineraries for the BA in Managers of Cultural Itineraries of the Department in Human Studies; Organization and Planning of the Territory for the MA in Architecture at the Department of Architecture of the University of Ferrara (Italy).
In October 2012 he founded the International University Network Routes towards Sustainability of which is co-coordinator. Since 2019 he is amongst the founders and member of the board of the Unife’s international Ph.D. progrmme Environmental Sustainability and Wellbeing, as a joint Ph.D. with the Western Sydney University. Since 2025 he is among the founders of Ecopia, Eco Partnershiop for Interdisciplinary Actions, international university alliance.
In 2022 he published for Mimesis Edizioni (Italy): L’Umanità a un bivio. Il dilemma della sostenibilità a trent’anni da Rio de Janeiro (Humanity at a crossroads. The dilemma of sustainability thirty years after Rio de Janeiro).
