Graziano Di Carmine

Graziano Di Carmine è ricercatore RTT (Tenure Track) di Chimica Organica presso il DISAP dal 2023. Si è laureato in scienze chimiche all’Università di Bologna nel 2013 (magna cum laude). Dopo un breve periodo di lavoro nell’industria (Centro Ricerche Fiat, Orbassano) si è iscritto alla scuola di dottorato in scienze chimiche presso l’Università degli studi di Ferrara (XXXI ciclo) ed ha conseguito il suddetto titolo nel 2019 (cum laude) sotto la supervisione della prof. Olga Bortolini. Nel 2018 è stato visiting PhD student ad Oxford nel gruppo del Prof. Darren J. Dixon; mentre nel periodo 2019-2020 è stato Post-Doc presso l’università di Manchester nel gruppo del prof. Carmine D’Agostino, con una posizione finanziata della prestigiosa UK-EPSRC (UK- Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council); in fine, nel 2020 ritorna a Ferrara come RTDa in chimica organica (DOCPAS). Si occupa principalmente di sviluppare metodologie sostenibili per la sintesi di molecole di interesse biologico (glicoconiugati e amminoacidi non proteinogenici) attraverso la fotochimica e la fotocatalisi, e dello studio dei processi diffusivi che sono coinvolti nella catalisi in fase eterogenea tramite analisi NMR. Ha ricevuto alcuni premi per la sua ricerca come: la migliore tesi di Dottorato in Scienze Chimiche del XXXI Ciclo, (dallo IUSS - Istituto Universitario per gli Studi Superiori di Ferrara) e il “top highly cited work” from the Royal Society of Chemistry Journals dalla RSC.

Graziano Di Carmine is researcher in Organic Chemistry (RTT, Tenure Track) since 2023. He graduated in Chemistry at the University of Bologna in 2013 (magna cum laude). He worked in industry for a short period (Fiat Research Center, Orbassano), and then he enrolled in the doctoral school in chemical sciences at the University of Ferrara (XXXI Cycle) defending his dissertation in 2019 (cum laude) under the supervision of prof. Olga Bortolini. In 2018 he was visiting PhD student at University of Oxford in the group of Prof. Darren J. Dixon; while in the period 2019-2020, he was Post-Doc at the University of Manchester in the group of prof. Carmine D'Agostino, (grant funded by the prestigious UK-EPSRC, UK- Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council); finally, in 2020, he moved back to Ferrara as RTDa in organic chemistry at DOCPAS. His scientific interests mainly involve the development of sustainable methodologies in the synthesis of biologically active molecules (glycoconjugates and non-proteinogenic amino acids) via photochemistry/photocatalysis, and the study of diffusion processes involved in heterogeneous catalysis through NMR (Nuclear Magnetic Resonance) measurements. He is the recipient of some awards such as the best PhD thesis in Chemical Sciences for the XXXI Cycle, (from IUSS - University Institute for Higher Studies of Ferrara) and the “top highly cited work” from RSC (Royal Society of Chemistry).
