Mariaconcetta Sicurella

Mariaconcetta Sicurella, biologa molecolare, è ricercatore a tempo determinato (RTD-A; BIO/07), presso il dipartimento di Scienze dell’Ambiente e della Prevenzione, dell’Università degli Studi di Ferrara. Nel corso degli anni ha sviluppato ampia esperienza in ambito microbiologico incentrando l’interesse sulla costruzione,  generazione e possibili applicazioni di nuovi vettori virali basati su Herpes Simplex per studi di terapia genica e vaccini, analisi immunologica in vitro ed in vivo su modelli murini. Laureata nel 2007 in Scienze Biomolecolare e Cellulare, nell’anno successivo ha conseguito l’abilitazione alla professione di Biologo Sez.A. Nel 2012 ottiene il titolo di Dottore di ricerca in Biomedicina presso l’Università degli Studi di Padova con tesi dal titolo: “Studi di immunogenicità ed efficacia di vettori HSV per lo sviluppo di un vaccino contro l'infezione da Herpes Simplex”, collaborando per questo progetto con l’Istituto Superiore di Sanità. Dal 2013 al 2015 è assegnista di ricerca presso il dipartimento di Microbiologia e Genetica Medica, dell’Università degli Studi di Ferrara, occupandosi del progetto PRIN ”Development of vectors based on Herpes Simplex as a vaccine model against infections of pathogens such as: Mycobacterium Tuberculosis, Herpes Simplex and HIV. Dal 2015 al 2018 è titolare di un contratto di Collaborazione Coordinata e Continuativa (Co.Co.Co.) presso l’ospedale Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza- San Giovanni Rotondo – Unità Genetica Medica, per seguire il progetto AIRC Dissecting TRIM8 Functions in the pathogenesis of glioblastoma" ed ha inoltre svolto attività di supporto alla didattica nel settore della microbiologia (MED/07) per i corsi di laurea in Scienze Biologiche, Biotecnologie e Chimica e Tecnologie Farmaceutiche. Dal 2018 al 2019 collabora con contratto di Collaborazione Coordinata e Continuativa (Co.Co.Co.)  con l’ospedale Universitario San Raffaele - Divisione di Oncologia Sperimentale - Unità Urologia, per seguire il progetto Europeo "Emergence of a spinal micturition reflex after SCI: abolition by silencing of hyper-excited C-fiber bladder afferents by gene therapy to restore continence and micturition”, ciò le ha permesso di poter effettuare parte del suo lavoro anche presso l’Université de Versailles Saint Quentin en Yvelines (UVSQ)-Paris Saclay. Dal 2019 al 2021 è assegnista di ricerca presso il dipartimento di Scienze Chimiche Farmaceutiche e Agrarie dell’Università degli Studi di Ferrara, occupandosi del progetto PRIN “Latent and persistent viral infections: reactivation-replication control mechanisms and chronic degenerative damage.”, e seguendo test per la valutazione dell’attività battericida e/o virucida di differenti prodotti in accordo con le normative ISO.  Nel 2020 partecipa come unità operativa al bando regionale successivamente finanziato dal titolo “Healthcare Water System (HWS): la sanificazione innovativa, sicura e green per gli ambienti sanitari e ospedalieri. In questi anni la sua attività scientifica è dimostrata da diverse pubblicazioni su riviste di interesse internazionale e partecipazione a convegni.

Mariaconcetta Sicurella, molecular biologist, is a researcher (RTD-A; BIO / 07) at the Department of Environmental and Prevention Sciences of the University of Ferrara. Over the years he has developed extensive experience in the microbiological field focusing his interest on the construction, generation and possible applications of new viral vectors to study on Herpes Simplex for gene therapy and vaccine studies, in vitro and in vivo immunological analysis on mouse models. Graduated in 2007 in Biomolecular and Cellular Sciences, in the following year she obtained the qualification to the profession of Biologist Section A. In 2012 the title of PhD in Biomedicine at the University of Padua with a thesis entitled: "Studies of immunogenicity and efficacy of HSV vectors for the development of a vaccine against Herpes Simplex infection", collaborating for this project with the Istituto Superiore di Sanità. From 2013 to 2015 he was research fellow at the Department of Microbiology and Medical Genetics, of the University of Ferrara, dealing with the PRIN project "Development of vectors based on Herpes Simplex as a model of vaccine against pathogenic infections such as: Mycobacterium Tuberculosis, Herpes Simplex and HIV. From 2015 to 2018 he is the holder of a Co.Co.Co. at Hospedale Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza - San Giovanni Rotondo - Medical Genetics Unit, following for the AIRC Dissecting TRIM8 Functions in the pathogenesis of glioblastoma"and has also carried out teaching support activities in the microbiology sector (MED / 07) for the degree courses in Biological Sciences, Biotechnology and Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Technologies. From 2018 to 2019 he collaborates as Co .Co.Co. with Hospedale San Raffaele - Division of Experimental Oncology - Urology Unit, to follow the European project "Emergence of a spinal micturition reflex after SCI: abolition by silencing of hyper-excited bladder afferents in C fiber by gene therapy to restore continence and urination ", this allowed her to carry out part of her work also at the Université de Versa illes Saint Quentin en Yvelines (UVSQ) -Paris Saclay. From 2019 to 2021 he is a research fellow at the Department of Chemical, Pharmaceutical and Agricultural Sciences of the University of Ferrara, dealing with the PRIN project "Latent and persistent viral infections: reactivation-replication control mechanisms and chronic degenerative damage", and following tests for the evaluation of the bactericidal and / or virucidal activity of different products in accordance with ISO standards. In 2020 it participates as an operational unit in the regional tender subsequently financed under the title “Healthcare Water System (HWS): innovative, safe and green sanitation for healthcare and hospital environments. In recent years his scientific activity has been demonstrated by various publications in journals of international interest and participation in conferences.
