Giuseppe Valacchi

Giuseppe Valacchi è Professore Ordinario di Fisiologia presso l’Università degli Studi di Ferrara, Professore a contratto presso Kyung Hee University (Seoul, South Korea) e David Murdock Distinguished Professor in Regenerative Medicine presso North Carolina State University (Kannapolis, NC, USA). La sua ricerca scientifica e’ focalizzata nella comprensione dei meccanismi molecolari e cellulari che definiscono le risposte fisiopatologiche di vari tessuti umani, tra i quali il tessuto cutaneo, polmonare e gastrointestinale, all’exposome con particolare attenzione sugli inquinanti ambientali oltre a studiare malattie del neurosviluppo quali sindrome di Rett e Autismo.
Dal 2023 e’ il Presidente della Societa Europea per lo studio dei Radicali Liberi (SFRR-Europe) ed è autore di piu di 350 articoli pubblicati su riviste scientifiche internazionali (peer-review journal article), 20 capitoli di libro e 5 libri. E’ stato invitato come speaker a piu’ di 200 conferenze internazionali e come organizzatore/chair di oltre 80 meeting internazionali.
E’ vincitore di vari premi tra i quali “Entelligence Award” (Actelion), “OCC Award”, “Science and Education Award” e nel 2019 e’ risultato vincitore del “Exposome grant” (Vichy).
Nel 2018 ha ricevuto il titolo di Dottore Honoris Causa in Biochimica e Farmacia dall’Universita’ di Buenos Aires per la sua ricerca scientifica nell’ambito della biologia redox. Inoltre, ha ricevuto nel 2020 il “Clinical Research Award” (SFRR-E) e nel 2022 il “Faculty Scholar Award” (North Carolina State University).
Il Prof. Valacchi è Editore in Chief della rivista Archives in Biochemistry and Biophysics e Editore Associato di, Mediators of Inflammation, Oxidative Medicine and Cellular Longevity, Chemistry e membro dell’ Editorial Board di varie riviste scientifiche tra le quali Genes and Nutrition, Frontiers in Pharmacology, BioFactors, Cosmetics, Free Radicals in Biology and Medicine, Antioxidants, Clinical Immunology Endocrine & Metabolic Drugs, Frontiers in Inflammation Pharmacology, Clinical Anti-Inflammatory & Anti-Allergy Drugs.
Giuseppe Valacchi is Full Professor of Physiology at the University of Ferrara, Adjunct Professor at Kyung Hee University, Seoul, South Korea and David H. Murdock Distinguished Professor at North Carolina State University. His research has focused on understanding the cellular and molecular mechanisms that define the physio-pathological responses of tissues, including cutaneous tissue, lung, GI tract to Exposome with special focus on environmental pollutants and neurodevelopment conditions such as Rett Syndrome and Autism. Since 2023 he is the President of the European Society of Free Radicals Research (SFRR-Europe). He is author of more than 350 peer reviewed internationals papers, 20 book chapters, 5 books. He has been invited speaker to more than 200 international conferences and Organizer/Chair to over 80 international meetings. He has won several awards among them the Entelligence Award from Actelion, OCC Award, Science and Education Award and in 2019 the Exposome grant. In 2018 he was awarded with the “Doctorate Honoris Causa” in Biochemistry and Pharmacy from the University of Buenos Aires for his work in the redox biology field in addition he is the recipient of the 2020 Clinical Research award from the SFRR-E and the 2022 “Faculty Scholar” award from North Carolina State University.
